Metro 14 Chaos Rocks at USAV Nationals in Reno, NV
14 All Star National 5th at USAV Nationals
Last but not least the 14 All Star National CHAOS set off with the rare greatness of a mother/daughter combo of coaches. Coach Jitka Okolicany and daughter Coach Katie Hybnerova had high hopes for this team to make their own mark in Metro history. CHAOS had high standards set by the other 2 Metro teams, but they were up for the challenge! After 4 days of play they made themselves a spot in Metro history becoming the 3rd Metro team to finish 5th at a National tournament. With that, they were also the highest finishing team out of all Delta Region Clubs at a USAV National Tournament, improving greatly on their finish from last year!
Day 1 CHOAS got off on a good start facing their first team of the day they showed a very strong appearance defeating Williamsburg 14 Black easily in 2 games 25-13, 25-11. Match 2 of the day, their opponent was not going to let them take it the match easily. They battle out a 3 game intense match. The first game they were able to win 25-19, the second they dropped just short losing 23-25, then the excitement came in the 3rd game with both teams going at each other, the score pushed on past 15 points until Metro’s CHAOS was finally able to finish it off with a score 22-20 in the third game. The last match of day 1 was also a tough match for CHAOS. It was another 3 game close one. Going into the 3rd game with both teams tied 1game a piece, CHAOS could not keep up with their last opponent losing the 3rd game 15-12.
Going into day 2, the girls had a fire lit up inside them from losing the close match from the day before. They were not going to let that happen again! They put too much effort into the season to watch it slip away in 3 games. The first match of the day they played very consistent defeating the first team in both games with a score of 25-22. The second match of the day they found themselves once again in a very familiar situation going into 3 games. This time they were ready taking the 3rd game 15-11. Going undefeated the second day put them in a good position going into day 3.
Day 3 would be the day that determined just how hard the girls were willing to fight. They were up against their toughest competitors yet facing the 18th, 3rd, and 14th ranked teams in the tournament. Team CHAOS put their game face on ready for war. They took down their first opponents of the day easily in two, and were ready to face the #3 team in the tournament. The first game was very close with Metro losing 23-25. Metro was not going to stand down , game 2 they game out on top with a 25-21 win. The next game was another close one for the girls, but they were victorious and defeated the #3 team with a win of 15-13. With a win in their 3rd game Metro was now ranked the number 3 seed for coming in 1st in the pool that day.
On the last day, Metro's first game up was the #6 ranked team Amarillo Aces 14-1. They took the first game coming out strong in the early points before sealing the game 25-22. The next game Amarillo came right back defeating Metro with the same score 25-22. That sent them once more into a third game. The girls came out very strong and battled out the third game, before coming up slightly short 2 points losing the third game 15-13. That ended Metro’s tournamen appearancet, but not before they were able to set Metro History and claim the best finish of any team in the Delta Region. Congratulations on your accomplishments!
