Day 2

With one day of prepping, painting, and sky-lift driving under our belt, the Metro Crew put some of these construction workers to shame!

Once again we started the day off bright and early! Before we could continue with painting all of the fire hydrants had to be removed as well as all of the stickers and sticker residue, sounds easy.. try removing stickers 28ft in the air leaning over the lift...

We set out again in teams, one responsible for sanding the puttied walls smooth, one removing the stickers, while the 3rd began painting once again.

In the new gym there is a metal ladder that leads to the roof that had to stay, in order to save paint the decision was made to hand paint the ladder! Well I for sure was not up to the challenge, but Emma one of our awesome volunteers climb right up and knocked the ladder out! Very impressive!

The columns were painting, and then the last brick wall, and we were done, with only a few touch up spots left most of the CREAM paint was finished!!

The gym already looks 100X's better and excitement is starting to build with the visions of how great the gym is going to look!

With that finished it was off to METRO!!

Work was started breaking down the first court. A team broke the court into sections while the rest of us finished breaking the tiles into squares of four and began to stack them. Mrs. Kurtz gave us all a little laugh, with a shoe string incident... and mother like daughter Hannah soon after had the same incident but needed a little repair after. The the floor mats under were rolled and loaded into the truck and moved to the new facility.... Long day time to go home and re-energize for tomorrow!
