MEMPHIS METRO FALL LEAGUE  will take place on August 23-September 30
What is Fall League?
Fall League is a skill training program designed for athletes ready to learn, perfect, and advance their basic volleyball skills.
Coach Jitka Okolicany and her Metro Staff will lead each player through the proper technique on passing, setting, hitting and serving. Perfecting and advancing each basic skill will give your athlete the tools necessary for her future success.
Drills are designed to build not only your athlete’s skill and athletic fitness but also her confidence. Having confidence will lead to mental toughness and will give your athlete an advantage over her competition.

MEMPHIS METRO SPECIALIZED SKILL TRAINING

What is Specialized Skill Training?
Specialized Skills Training is a training program designed to enhance each individual skill of the game of volleyball.
Each player must master each of the five basic volleyball skills - passing, setting, hitting, blocking, and serving to become a competitive player. Our Specialized Skill Training will teach each player how to deepen each individual skill in order to gain a head start on her competition...

Metro Coach Earns Preseason Honors

Altrese Hawkins, coach of the Memphis Metro 12 National team, was in the Memphis commercial appeal for earning honors for her play at the University of Memphis. Altrese Hawkins has been named a preseason All-Conference USA second team, selected by COBRA Volleyball Magazine. Hawkins was on the league's all-Freshman squad in 2009, leading the Tigers with 335 kills and a team-best.282 attack percentage.The honor is the second of the preseason for Hawkins. She was tabbed an All-Preseason Second Team performer by COBRA Volleyball Magazine in July.

Metro Stars Selected for High Performace Summer Team

Memphis Metro is proud to announce that 3 of their players have been selected for the 2010 High Performance Summer Rosters!  Receiving the top honors were: Devan Porter (Select A1), Kelley Cole & Kenzie Fields (A2 Continental)! Memphis Metro Teams Excel at National Level

Metro had  10 teams compete in this year’s Volleyball National Championships.  9 teams competed in the 2010 AAU Nationals in Orlando, Florida, and 1 team competed in the USAV National in Reno, Nevada. Out of those 10 teams, 3 teams made Metro history placing 5th overall, while one of those teams held the #1 ranking during tournament play.  Congratulations to all of Metro’s players, coaches, and supporters for a season to remember! 17 All Star National 5th at AAU National Tournament

Metro 14 Chaos Rocks at USAV Nationals in Reno, NV

14 All Star National 5th at USAV Nationals

Last but not least the 14 All Star National CHAOS set off with the rare greatness of a mother/daughter combo of coaches. Coach Jitka Okolicany and daughter Coach Katie Hybnerova had high hopes for this team to make their own mark in Metro history.  CHAOS had high standards set by the other 2 Metro teams, but they were up for the challenge!  After 4 days of play they made themselves a spot in Metro history becoming the 3rd Metro team to finish 5th at a National tournament.  With that, they were also the highest finishing team out of all Delta Region Clubs at a USAV National Tournament, improving greatly on their finish from last year! ...read the rest of this post →

Metro teams competing at AAU Nationals, Orlando, FL

Other AAU National Metro team finishes:
16 All-Star National went 3-0 first day. Day 2 they lost one game going 2-1 in pool play ending up in a three way tie that put them in 1st by point percentage. Day 3 they dropped their 1st match of the day, won the 2nd, and played the best they have ever played against a KIVA team before losing the 3rd.  They went on to win the 1st two matches of the day on Day 4 in the Bronze Division before losing to Powerhouse 16 Black in two.
The 15 All-Star National team competed in the Open Division and found themselves coming up a little short on both days.  They won their first match of the tournament defeating Maverick Ace on day 3, and lost their first match on day 4. ...read the rest of this post →

Metro Battles in New Orleans

10 Metro teams took the 6 hour trip to New Orleans, to compete in the AAU Super Regional tournament. Metro showed a strong presence finishing with teams in the top 3 in each age category!

Finishing 2nd in Gold were: 18 All Star National & 17 All Star National

3rd in Gold: 16 All Star National, 15 All Star National, 13 All Star National, 12 All Star National

4th In Gold: 16 National

1st in Silver:Congratulations to the 14 National team for taking home their first number one finish this season, finishing 1st in Silver Bracket!, 13 National team also took 1st

3rd in Silver: 14 Elite, 12 National

Congratulations to all Metro Teams! Go get em' in ORLANDO!!!
